Internships & Programs

Medical / Surgical / Critical Care

The experience of being a nurse at a world renowned tertiary care center is an adventure of a lifetime. Our units offer an exciting, dynamic environment providing quality patient care through the use of innovative technologies and research-based practice with expansive learning opportunities. Each unit provides a variety of experiences caring for patients with multi-system disease processes in the intermediate / stepdown / critical care areas. The patient populations encompass those of surgical nature (transplant trauma, abdominal, vascular) and medical nature (pulmonary, renal, and infectious disease).

Recognizing the complexity of our care, we want the novice nurse to feel supported and mentored during their first years of employment with us. We offer two critical care tracks (one in medicine and the other in surgical trauma). Our other internship tracks focus on specific populations (medicine or surgery) that can be with or without stepdown. Opportunities to enhance your learning within our internship program may include: time in the emergency room, recovery room, OR, radiology, IV team, clinic experience and working with an Advance Practice Nurse. Your internship is organized to develop your knowledge and professional growth in nursing. This program would prepare you for future certification at the end of you internship.

Our staff value:

  1. Dedication to quality patient care
  2. Compassionate family support
  3. Teamwork and Multidisciplinary collaboration
  4. Commitment to professional growth and development

If you see yourself as a leader in nursing, we believe that our “Leadership Intern Track” will help you fulfill your professional goals. We will train you to become a preceptor, charge nurse, and life support instructor.

Our internship program is designed for the new graduate, or novice nurse who is committed to medical-surgical nursing. We ask for a two-year commitment to specialty area: one year as an intern and one additional year on one of our med-surgical units.
