Duke Life Flight

Duke Life Flight began operating its first helicopter in February of 1985 and added one critical care ground transport ambulance in March of 1988. Thirty-plus years later, Duke Life Flight is a thriving, CAMTS accredited transport team including:

  • Two state-of-the-art EC 145 helicopters operational 24/7 in Durham and Smithfield, NC
  • Seven Kenworth critical care ambulances located in Durham and Smithfield, NC
  • Four Chevy type III ambulances for utilized for BLS and ALS missions; based out of Durham, NC

Highly trained transport teams are comprised of:

  • Registered Nurses with Emergency and Critical Care background
  • Critical Care Paramedics
  • Registered Nurses with Neonatal and Pediatric background
  • Neonatal/Pediatric Specialty Respiratory Therapists
  • Paramedics
  • Emergency Medic Technicians
  • Communications Specialists
